News Towards a Smart University: BOR approves EVSU LUDIP

Diligence, strategic foresight, and commitment to excellence—are the essential elements that bring EVSU-LUDIP 2023-2032 to its realization.

The Eastern Visayas State University – Board of Regents has finally approved the proposed Land Use Development Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP) of the university during the 1st Special Board Meeting for CY 2024 at the Graduate School Function Hall, Wednesday, May 29.

Through Board Resolution 2024-085, the approval of the LUDIP document encompasses the geographic profile of EVSU including its external campuses, detailed description of inventory holdings, infrastructure, facilities, transportation and communication network, waste management, and the institutional coordination and monitoring set up.

Republic Act No. 11396 otherwise known as SUCs Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan Act mandates State Colleges and Universities (SUCs) across the country to make extensive blueprint with regard to their land use and development, aiming to maximize the utilization of resources. Further, EVSU is mandated to identify general future allocation and distribution of land facilities, as well as identification of multisectoral elements and engagements in the built and natural environment.

The approval of the LUDIP is a testament to the continued thrust of the university to establish technology-transformed learning spaces, classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities, among others, thereby maintaining quality education alongside the digital sophistication that every EVSUnista deserves. Moreover, the realization of Smart University is in congruence with the parameters set in the LUDIP guidelines, which serves as the roadmap of the university should there be revitalizations in physical and infrastructure landscapes around the school premises.

Signatories of this historic approval are the members of the EVSU Board of Regents: Hon. Aldrin A. Darilag, Chair-designate and CHED Commissioner; Hon. Dennis C. de Paz, Vice Chairperson; Hon. Daniel A. Ariaso, Sr., Alumni Regent; Hon. Aaleah Mosca, Student Regent; Hon. Luningning Lariosa, representing Cong. Mark Go; Hon. Meylene C. Rosales, NEDA 8 Regional Director; Hon. Cleofe T. Caidic, Faculty Regent; Hon. Jonathan Calvara, Private Sector Representative; with Atty. Edgardo Esperas, Jr., as University/ Board Secretary.

Committed to serving its stakeholders, EVSU will continue to provide conducive learning spaces and uphold the culture of excellence.

Special thanks to the Technical Working Group — composed of university’s Geodetic Engineers, Civil Engineers, Architects, Planning Officers, Technical Staff and Layout Artists — for their contribution to the development of the EVSU LUDIP.
