News YAKAP Caravan brings free health services to Tacloban City

Tacloban City, Leyte – On November 20, 2025, the YAKAP Caravan, a partnership between Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) main campus and PhilHealth Region 8, successfully delivered a full-day health program from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The initiative aimed to provide accessible healthcare services to the community, reinforcing the importance of preventive care and wellness.

The program offers a wide range of benefits, including medical check-ups, laboratory tests, cancer screening tests, and free medicines. These services are designed to address immediate health concerns while promoting long-term awareness and proactive health management among participants.

The event featured Mr. Rey Villacastin, SIA II, PAMO, among the resource speakers. His talk emphasized the value of community-based health initiatives and the importance of early detection and preventive measures in reducing health risks.

To ensure the success of the program, PhilHealth partnered with several diagnostic centers, including Divine Rays Diagnostics, Quest and Reliance Diagnostics, and Raphah Medical and Diagnostic Center. Their collaboration provided technical expertise and resources that enhanced the quality and scope of services delivered during the caravan.

The YAKAP Caravan exemplifies the power of government service and collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, and private partners in advancing public health. By delivering essential medical services directly to the community, the initiative not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also fostered a culture of prevention and wellness.
