Abstract

Each semester, the advising and enrollment process has been harmed by the conventional "paper and pen" approach of student data management and manual enrolling. Additionally, stakeholders expressed additional concerns, compelling the school to obtain and install a new system. The system's primary purpose was to organize the level of student records. With this approach, it was expected that the system would improve the school's advising and enrollment processes. To facilitate the comparison, the author used the queuing methodology because it enables the generation of low-cost and economical technologies such as SMS and barcodes that are integrated into the computerized enrollment system. Additionally, the author, as a proponent of FOSS, programmed the application system using open – source web engineering tools such as Apache 2 for web services, PHP 5 for server – side scripting, MYSQL for database services, XML AJAX, the Code 3 of 9 bar coding technique, and POSIX – based regular expressions. The development and widespread implementation of this system fundamentally altered the landscape of student records management in the school, as deputized users can now readily acquire student checklists and related data from designated workstations. The enrolment procedure had improved dramatically, particularly in terms of adviser-advisee engagement. This is made possible by the fact that advisers already have the luxury of time to speak with and discuss ideas with their advisees. While the system is being monitored, it will be used exclusively by the school until it is determined to be stable. The remaining departments will also begin using the service in the near future, as the application system is structured to accommodate such growth.
