Abstract

The study generally aimed to design a capability training program for hotel owners in Eastern Samar. This utilized descriptive-evaluative research design with hotel owners/managers as respondents using complete sampling. The profile and the management practices of the respondents were the factors considered in the assessment as to whether there will be a need for upgrading and professionalizing the operation of the hotel business owned and managed by them. Management practices considered in the study were selecting the right people, showing empathy, communicating clearly, leading by example, delegating, being positive and constructive, rewarding and thanking people, developing people, encouraging innovation and being flexible by Chun's (2017).The result of the study shows that owners/managers of hotels in Eastern Samar exhibits attributes that of an ideal manager. It shows that they have the abilities and the passion to provide the best service for their guests. Result from the study proves the commitment of the owners to continue their progress by revitalizing the operation of their business and ensure quality services to their guests. It is through this forward-thinking abilities of the managers that the accommodation sector in the province will be prepared for the increase of tourists and visitors to the province in the near future.
