Abstract

Local community involvement in mangrove protection is gaining attention worldwide, particularly in tropical nations such as the Philippines. The study highlights public organization-led community-based projects to maintain the mangrove ecosystem in Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines. The results of the qualitative research indicate that the public organization conducts reforestation, forest protection and management, production of mangrove seedlings, collaboration with other organizations, and future planning not only to strengthen mangrove protection but also for ecotourism purposes.
