Opportunities for Students University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific

Program A/B Winter/Spring 2023

The first cycle of the Program A/B timeline for Winter/Spring 2023 is in the FINAL DAYS for student applications and institutional nominations!  All applications and nominations must be completed by August 4.  Then the  student placement phase will begin.  The three student placement cycles will take place from August 7 through September 16 2022. If you have programs open for student applications, please check during this time to see if you need to take action on any student applications.  If you have coordinators listed in the USCO2 system, they should receive notification of actions needed.

In the meantime, the second application cycle is ongoing.  Institutions may continue to upload program offerings from the Program A/B second cycle through September 2, 2022.  The platform will be open for the second cycle of student applications from September 6 to October 3, 2022. Some things to remember:

  • When searching the program list at https://usco2.umap.org/ enter 2023 in the dropdown menu to see the most recent results.
  • Institutions must offer a Program A/B listing before their students are eligible to apply for any programs.
  • If a student from your institution applies for a program, you must complete your nomination of the student before the application deadline.
  • Students may register to create USCO application accounts at any time.

UMAP Research Net Competition, 2022

UMAP Research Net (URN) promotes research collaboration and facilitates cooperation among member institutions across the network. Cross-border higher education opportunities around the world have grown considerably through the mobility of students, academic staff, programs/institutions, and professionals. Driven by this global trend, URN aims to promote academic mobility and collaboration, and to promote effective interaction and exchange among scholars, researchers, and educators across cultures.

The 2022 URN Theme is: UN Sustainable Development Goals and Student Mobility in Asia and the Pacific. The scope of the proposed research project should be designed to be completed within 6 months. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  1. Research related to student mobility programs or intercultural experiences focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, ideally at UMAP member institutions;
  2. Research related to UMAP student exchange in the Asia-Pacific region;
  3. Research related to capacity building and partnership development in UMAP member institutions for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) or other virtual exchange models.
