The Ports Academy, Malaysia, and Eastern Visayas State University-Main Campus, Tacloban City, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, Dec. 5 at 9:00 o’clock in the morning, Office of Research, Development and Extension Services Studio Room, Eastern Visayas State University to strengthen the Internationalization initiatives of the two universities.
The University President of Eastern Visayas State University, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, and the Managing Director of Ports Academy, Malaysia, Prof. Durairaj Govindasamy, sealed the MOU with the presence of other key officials of Eastern Visayas State University.
The said activity was an off-shoot of the university’s effort through the Vice-President for Internationalization and External Affairs, Dr. Danilo Pulma, and Prof.Faustito A. Aure, the Director for Internationalization for Higher Education, among others.
The undertaking commenced with the talk of Prof. Govindasamy on “Colloquium on Logistics and Supply Chain Management” to the College of Business and Entrepreneurship’s Faculty and Students, among others.
He discussed the importance of logistics for the economic growth of the country. He further emphasized that logistics refers to getting the right product, quantity, and cost.
In his talk, he mentioned how the Ports World Academy provides training on a career pathway, curricular enhancement, professional upscaling programs, and courses.
Prof. Govindasamy elaborated that PWA has been collaborating with the HEIs in the Philippines through certification programs offered to students and faculty. It is widely engaged in consultancy and research and established itself as a curricula developer and designer for industry-based training programs and courses.
Meanwhile, he mentioned that PWA offers capacity-building programs and benchmarking activities to partner HEIs.
The activity capped off with the official signing of the MOU and photo opportunity among the key officials-Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, University President; Dr. Danilo Pulma, Vice-President for Internationalization and External Affairs; Dr. Lydia M. Morante, Vice-President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Benedicto T. Militante, Jr., Vice-President for Administration and Finance; Prof. Faustito A. Aure, Director for Internationalization for Higher Education, Dr. Felix Dexter Barrion, Director for External Affairs, Dr. Sonia T. Enrile, Director for Alumni Relations and Prof. Durairaj Govindasamy, among others.
