The Department of Tourism Eastern Visayas (DOT8) and Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) have joined forces and held a Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony on April 17, 2024, for a Sustainable, Meaningful, Adaptive, and Reliable Technology Tourism Accreditation and Monitoring System for Tourism-Related Establishment (SMART TAMSTAR), a system that aims to develop tourism accreditation in Region 8.
The partnership led by the University President of EVSU Dr. Dennis C. De Paz and DOT Regional Director Karina Rosa S. Tiopes, promises to improve identification processes and enhance the visitor experience through a friendly tourism portal. With TAMSTAR now at 80% of development, key components like accreditation monitoring and the tourist portal are operational, thanks to the dedication of EVSU’s BSIT intern students.
Looking ahead, TAMSTAR plans to optimize functionality and culminate with a grand opening event in May 2024, showcasing its potential to revolutionize the tourism industry in Eastern Visayas.
As the partnership between EVSU and DOT strengthens, both parties remain committed to TAMSTAR’s successful implementation and long-term sustainability. The project signifies a milestone in regional tourism development, promising to make a lasting impact on the tourism industry in Eastern Visayas and beyond.
