The Eastern Visayas State University joins the Commission on Higher Education in celebrating 30 remarkable years of progress and transformative strides in shaping the landscape of Philippine higher education.

Part of the week-long celebration from May 13 to 17 are activities highlighting the commitment to excellence and innovation.

One highlight of the festivities is the GAWAD Parangal 2024 on May 24, a ceremony that recognizes the outstanding achievements of topnotchers from various SUCs in the region. Among the 17 awardees from the university is Engr. Gwyneth B. Hermoso, Top 3 in the recent Civil Engineers Licensure Examination in April 2024.

In line with the celebration, EVSU President Dr. Dennis C. de Paz attended the National Higher Education Day Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Complex in Pasay City on Wednesday, 15 May 2024.

In his keynote speech, President Ferdinand Marcos stressed the need for collaboration among government, academe, and private educational institutions and industry to elevate standards of higher education in the country.

This summit marks the 30th Anniversary of CHED and the 4th National Higher Education Day (NHED). Aligned with Republic Act No. 11522, which declares May 18 of every year as the National Higher Education Day, the summit, themed “USAP, ULAT, UGNAY: Access, Quality, and Competitiveness at the Core of Higher Education Reforms.
