Leyte, Philippines – EVSU, represented by Director of Research and Development, Dr. Pearl Aphrodite Carnice and the ORDExS staff, attended the ceremonial turn-over of ICT equipment to VICARP CMIs last July 11, 2024 at the Visayas State University’s RDE Hall.
The Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Program (VICARP) initiated this project to enhance the ICT connectivity and infrastructure of their various Consortium Member Institutions (CMIs), including Eastern Visayas State University from the seven cooperating agencies.
Project lead, Engr. Villagonzalo emphasizes the importance of this initiative in navigating today’s online landscape in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. He further affirms that providing stable and high-speed internet connectivity to CMIs is essential for monitoring, evaluating, and coordinating the fourteen (14) PCAARRD projects being implemented by the CMIs.
The main goal of this project is to provide a technology that will strengthen the communication process of popularly used office platforms such as google meet and zoom. Utilizing the latest routing system technology for a synergistic internet connection and providing a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a crucial feature of the ICT equipment.
The ICT equipment to be turned over was chosen to accomplish the goals of improved internet bandwidth use, reliability and internet redundancy, and enhanced communication facility. The appliances were formally turned over at the end of said event and will be installed at EVSU’s ORDExS training room.
