Manila, Philippines – On December 11, 2024, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) solidified its commitment to capacity development for local governments by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Local Government Academy (LGA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Local Government Resource Centers (LGRC). The ceremonial signing occurred at the prestigious Manila Hotel in Ermita, Manila City.
The MOU marks the beginning of a long-term collaborative partnership to enhance local governance through strategic capacity-building initiatives. This partnership launch was conceptualized during an exploratory meeting on November 15, 2024, setting the stage for a unified approach to local government support.
The ceremony coincided with the DILG’s “Capacity Development Awards for Catalysts of Excellence Gabi ng Pasasalamat,” an award and recognition program honoring the agency’s partners. The event provided a fitting backdrop for formalizing this significant alliance, which promises to bring about transformative improvements in local governance and the university’s plans.
Key EVSU officials from the Office of Internationalization and External Affairs, namely, VP Danilo B. Pulma, Prof. Faustito A. Aure, and Prof. Mia Gretz A. Ramirez, alongside representatives from the LGA, DILG, and LGRC, participated in the signing, accentuating the importance of this collaborative effort. Together, they aim to foster a more robust and effective local government framework, contributing to the overall development and progress of the region.
This partnership is a testament to EVSU’s ongoing dedication to community engagement and capacity building, aligning with its mission to be a leader in educational excellence and societal development.
