News UMAP holds general assembly; EVSU among attendees

The University Mobility in the Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) Council of the Philippines in cooperation with the Commission on Higher Education UMAP National Secretariat held a General Assembly last February 26, 2025, at CHED Auditorium, HEDC Building, CP Garcia Avenue, UP Campus Diliman Quezon City from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

This conference aimed to provide a forum for sharing and exchanging academic innovations, creative program initiatives, enriching curricular offerings through student mobility, and various insights learned and experienced by the different Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines, and to continue providing quality education to higher education. Simultaneously, as the term of the present Officers of the UMAP Council Philippines ends in February 2025, the UMAP Board decided that the Election of New Officers for 2025-2028 be conducted.

The Eastern Visayas State University, having been a member of UMAP since 2019, was invited and represented by the Director for Internationalization for Higher Education, Prof. Faustito A. Aure. This year’s Annual Conference had its theme: Strategizing Direction towards Inclusive PHEIs Internationalization: The UMAP Way. The Plenary session had 3 speakers, namely: DR. Heracleo D. Lagrada who shared about The History of UMAP ands UMAP in The Philippines, Talk 2 entitled Regional Approach to Internationalization: Making Every Institution Count was given by the Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, CHED RO IV Director and Talk 3 was delivered by UMAP Philippines – Outgoing President, Dr. Laurene Chua – Garcia entitled, Challenges and Support Needed of PHEIs in Making it to the World.
