UniRank’s list of top Philippine universities for January 2025 was recently released and the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) has made a historic leap from 61st place in 2024 to 24th this year.
UniRank is a well-known international higher education directory that ranks institutions based on the following factors: Majestic Referring Domains, which account for 55% of the score and measure the number of quality backlinks pointing to the university’s website; Similarweb Global Rank, weighted at 35%, evaluates web traffic and engagement globally; Moz Domain Authority at 5% looks at how well the university’s site will perform on search engines; and Majestic Trust Flow, also at 5%, assesses the trustworthiness of the university’s site based on the quality of its backlink profile.
This ranking system aims to present a list of the top Philippine universities, based on reliable, unbiased web metrics from independent web intelligence sources, rather than relying on data provided directly by the universities.
In this year’s edition, 234 higher education institutions in the Philippines were evaluated by UniRank.
The University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) consistently remains the top university in the nation according to Unirank’s standards, followed by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU).
Throughout the years, EVSU has consistently placed in Unirank’s top 100 Philippine Universities. Notably, this is the very first time that EVSU has clinched the top spot in region 8, a spot that has almost always been held by the Visayas State University (Rank 26 in the Philippines).
This year’s considerable boost in ranking is evidence of EVSU’s steadily growing online presence, digital reach and visibility both locally and nationally.
The University Multimedia Development Center (UMDC) drives the university’s social media engagement and content development, while the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) manages the technical administration and maintenance of EVSU’s official website, e-learning systems, and other digital platforms, ensuring a reliable and responsive online presence for the university.
This is a proud moment for the entire EVSU community. With continued efforts and steadfast commitment, EVSU hopes to sustain and further improve its standings in the years ahead, not only in UniRank but in all other higher education ranking platforms in the years to come.
