On August 18, 2025, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) officially ushered in Academic Year 2025β2026 with its first flag-raising ceremony, warmly welcoming students, faculty, and staff back to campus. Held on a Monday, the event preserved the universityβs commitment to cultural diversity and national identity, as the EVSU community proudly dressed in ASEAN-inspired attire in observance of a nationwide initiative.
In his welcome address, the University President, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, encouraged students to embrace the fresh start of their academic journey, emphasizing on the transformative privilege of free higher education. His message was a reminder of the profound academic opportunity in knowledge, culture, athletics, and leadership, offered by the institution.
The ceremony also marked a significant occasion for EVSUβs workforce. Two non-teaching personnel, appointed under the Revised Organizational Staffing Standards for SUCs (ROSSS), along with one newly appointed faculty member, took their oaths of office.
