Policy Statement
In reference to the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (R.A. 9003), the Extended Producer Responsibility Act of 2022 (R.A. 11898), the Philippine Environmental Code (P.D. 1152), and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) commits to adopting and institutionalizing sustainable consumption and production practices across all academic, research, administrative, and community extension operations.
EVSU shall:
• Institutionalize campus-wide waste management systems through segregation at source, reduction of single-use plastics, recycling, composting, and upcycling initiatives.
• Integrate circular economy principles by encouraging repair, reuse, and sustainable disposal of resources while reducing waste generation across all university functions.
• Implement sustainable procurement policies that prioritize eco-friendly, locally sourced, and socially responsible products and services.
• Promote efficient use of resources including energy, water, paper, and laboratory supplies through conservation programs, awareness campaigns, and green technologies.
• Incorporate responsible consumption education into curricula, research, and extension activities to raise awareness and build capacity among students, employees, and partner communities.
• Encourage innovation in sustainable technologies and practices through applied research and student-led projects that advance waste reduction, green design, and sustainable production.
• Foster partnerships with government, industry, and communities to strengthen circular economy initiatives, waste-to-value programs, and green enterprises in Eastern Visayas.
• Monitor and evaluate EVSU’s sustainability performance using measurable indicators to ensure accountability and continuous improvement in resource management.
Through these commitments, EVSU aspires to be a model green university that advances responsible consumption, sustainable production, and circular economy practices, contributing to ecological balance, climate resilience, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.
