News EVSU ranks 2nd in Region 8 in terms of overall total research production

According to the GHF University Excellence SCOPUS update, EVSU published 43 Scopus-indexed papers in 2025, its highest annual total to date and a notable increase from 2024 (26 papers published). This increase brought the university’s total research output to 157 documents.

In terms of overall research production, EVSU now ranks second in Region 8, behind Visayas State University with 771 documents, and slightly ahead of Southern Leyte State University with 154 documents. A noticeable improvement from 2024, where the university placed 3rd, with a total of 106 publications.

Surpassing 150 SCOPUS-indexed papers represents a milestone in EVSU’s development as a premier state university. This achievement positions the university as a regional leader in terms of research contribution. Further, the steady progress in research performance of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) within Eastern Visayas also reflect the consistently maturing research culture across the region.

As 2026 progresses, EVSU is filled with optimism as it continues to advance its research agenda through faculty and staff development by conducting relevant trainings, workshops, and seminars; expanding collaboration and partnerships through active participation in research consortia; and the establishment and utilization of relevant research centers.

The EVSU community recognizes and lauds the dedication of its faculty researchers and support staff, whose long hours and commitment to academic inquiry fueled the production of many meaningful and impactful research.
