The Eastern Visayas State University successfully conducted a Technical Learning Session on Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standards on February 24, 2026, as part of its EVSU Alumni Connect: Networking, Mentorship, and Institutional Partnership initiative.
The event aimed to equip academics, professionals, and alumni with essential knowledge and skills needed to navigate today’s increasingly complex technological and regulatory landscape. As advancements in electrical systems, energy solutions, and electronic innovations continue to expand globally, adherence to internationally recognized standards remains crucial in ensuring safety, reliability, and market readiness.
Through the session, participants gained valuable insights into certification processes, safety protocols, and global regulatory practices from distinguished UL experts. The initiative highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of safety and ethical responsibility while encouraging innovation within established regulatory frameworks. It also served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between academia, industry, and regulatory bodies.
The program was spearheaded by Dr. Analyn Españo, Vice President for Internationalization and External Affairs, whose leadership underscored the university’s commitment to continuous professional development and global engagement.
As the program concluded, Aryan Josef Basas, Conformity Assessment Program Principal of UL Solutions, left participants with a powerful reminder, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning in a rapidly evolving field: “Keep on learning—it’s always relearning because innovation keeps on changing.”
The session reaffirmed EVSU’s dedication to cultivating technically competent, globally aligned, and ethically grounded professionals prepared to meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
