News Emergency Go Bags turned over to employees to strengthen disaster preparedness

Eastern Visayas State University, through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, formally conducted the ceremonial turnover of Emergency Go Bags to university employees during the Monday flag-raising ceremony.

Each Emergency Go Bag contains basic emergency necessities, including a medical kit, compass, emergency blankets, and other essential items intended to support employees in responding to unforeseen emergencies.

More than providing emergency supplies, the initiative promotes the importance of preparedness as a shared responsibility within the University community. By equipping its employees with essential tools, EVSU seeks to strengthen a culture of readiness and resilience, particularly in the face of natural hazards and other emergencies.

University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz emphasized the significance of the initiative in promoting a safer and more prepared University workforce.

Dr. De Paz expressed hope that the Emergency Go Bags would provide employees with practical support when emergencies arise, while also encouraging everyone to take preparedness seriously as part of their responsibility as members of the EVSU community.

As the National University for Resiliency and Climate Action (NURCA), EVSU continues to strengthen its programs and initiatives on disaster risk reduction, climate action, and resilience. The distribution of Emergency Go Bags reinforces the University’s commitment to building a safer, more prepared, and climate- and disaster-ready institution.

Through initiatives such as this, EVSU continues to promote a culture where preparedness, resilience, and collective action are integral to university life—helping ensure that its people are better equipped to respond to emergencies and protect themselves and others when it matters most.
