The Development Academy of the Philippines – Graduate School of Public Management (DAP-GSPM) conducted its Cascading Activity: SDG & Futures Regional Caravan at Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) in Tacloban City, bringing together educators, researchers, and public sector stakeholders to strengthen knowledge-sharing on sustainable development.
The program formally opened with welcome remarks from EVSU President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, followed by a message from DAP-GSPM Senior Vice President and Dean Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina. The event also featured the ceremonial turnover of knowledge products and a presentation of DAP-GSPM’s academic and professional program offerings.
As part of the caravan, resource speakers presented research studies focused on future-ready governance and sustainable development. Among the featured topics were ecosystem-based adaptation and adaptive governance for climate resilience in the Leyte Sab-a Basin, Philippines, as well as innovative approaches to addressing environmental and governance challenges.
The program also showcased research on the concept of “Super-Barangays” and their envisioned role in urban development by 2040, along with a study exploring the future of public markets by 2050, using the Ormoc City Public Market as a case study. These presentations highlighted the importance of strategic planning and foresight in shaping resilient communities.
An open forum is undertaken, providing participants the opportunity to interact with the resource speakers, raise questions, and exchange ideas. The activity will conclude with the awarding of certificates and closing ceremonies, marking the end of the regional caravan’s stop at EVSU.
