EVSU Execs, PAASE embark study mission

The Eastern Visayas State University executives composed of the University President, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, the Vice-President for Internationalization and External Affairs, Dr. Danilo B.Pulma, and the Director for Internationalization for Higher Education, Prof.  Faustito A. Aure embarked a Study Mission to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, May 8-11.

The Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE), in collaboration with the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) and the University of Rizal System (URS) organized the said trip.

The study mission aimed to establish academic and research partnerships with leading universities in Taiwan, as well as to explore opportunities for scientific collaboration and exchange.

The PAASE team was composed of the PAASE President Mario Sto. Domingo, PAASE BOD Chair Ino Lansigan, Immediate Past President Giselle Concepcion, URS President Nancy Pascual, VP Marites Rio, and Director Mae de Lemon, EVSU President Dennis de Paz, VP Danilo B. Pulma, and Director Faustito A. Aure.

They visited three prominent universities in Kaohsiung: The National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), the National Changhua University of Education (NCUE), and the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech). These institutions are known for their strong research programs in areas such as agriculture, education, and technology, making them ideal partners for scientific collaboration.

Two additional universities Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), particularly its College of Pharmacy, and the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) were also visited. KMU is a leading and one of the biggest medical research institutions in the region, while NKUST is known for its strong engineering and technology programs.

Overall, the PAASE visit to Kaohsiung was a productive and insightful trip, providing valuable opportunities for scientific collaboration and exchange between Philippine and Taiwanese institutions. The partnerships and networks established during the visit are expected to yield significant benefits in the years to come, including joint research projects, student and faculty exchange programs, and the development of joint training programs in various fields.
