Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) hosted the “Creating Safe, Respectful Schools: A Seminar on Child Protection, Anti-Bullying and Anti-Sexual Harassment” on September 7, 2026, at the EVSU Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium, bringing together fourth year students from the college of education strengthening awareness and commitment toward creating safer and more respectful learning environments.
The seminar featured discussions on key concerns affecting students and the school community, particularly child protection, bullying, sexual harassment, and safety in educational settings. The activity emphasized the importance of fostering schools where learners are protected from abuse, discrimination, harassment, and other forms of violence.
The morning session featured Atty. Edgardo B. Esperas Jr., University Board Secretary, who led the seminar proper focusing on child protection, anti-bullying, and anti-sexual harassment. The discussion was followed by an open forum, providing participants an opportunity to raise questions and deepen their understanding of issues concerning the protection and welfare of learners.
In the afternoon, Dr. Grace Camasin served as resource speaker for the session on Safety Learning Environment, highlighting the need for educational institutions to cultivate spaces where students can learn without fear and where safety, dignity, and respect are upheld. The session was likewise followed by an open forum.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Judilyn Adincula, Vice President of PSTA, reinforcing the collective responsibility of educators and school stakeholders in building learning environments that are safe, inclusive, and respectful for all.
Through the activity, participants were encouraged to strengthen their role in promoting child protection, preventing bullying and sexual harassment, and ensuring a safe learning environment—essential elements in creating schools where every learner can learn, participate, and thrive with dignity.
The initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 04: Quality Education; SDG 05: Gender Equality and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
