The Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc City Campus submitted four programs of the College of Education for the first survey visit virtual accreditation of Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP), April 24-28,2023.
The said programs are Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED), Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED), and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) Major in Culinary Arts.
Dr. Gerry B. de Cadiz, the Campus Director of EVSU-Ormoc City Campus, emphasized the importance of accreditation in his opening remarks.
“Accreditation is essential for the university to attain its vision to become a leading university. To provide quality service to clientele, we should assure our services to be comparable to international standards and conform to the standards set by any accrediting institutions.,” he said.
The Director of the University Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center and concurrent Director of IMASO and UQMR, Prof. Renato E. Martija, introduced the Key Officials of the University.
In like manner, Prof. Ruel C. Advincula, the Head of the University Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center, presented the accreditors, to wit: Dr. Arnel B. Millesca, Overall Coordinator; Dr. Rosalyn L. Delizo, Team Leader of the Bachelor of Elementary Education; Dr. Roque N. Langcoy II, Team Leader of Bachelor of Physical Education; Dr. Marites M. Cumbe, Team Leader of Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education; Dr. Joseph C. Pepito, Team Leader of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology Major in Culinary Arts.
As the AACCUP Overall Coordinator of the 1st Survey Visit, Dr. Arnel B. Millesca set the tone of the activity. He stressed that although accreditation is not mandatory, it is needed to ensure that quality services to clientele are in place and vital for SUC Leveling, normative financing, PBB, institutional accreditation, attainment of the Certificate of Excellence, and Certificate of Development, among others.
An orientation of the use of the accreditation web portal followed.
Meanwhile, in the closing meeting, the University President, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, committed to converting into action the recommendations and inputs of the accreditors and was grateful to them for tediously ensuring the quality scrutiny of documents.
“Although accreditation is an uphill battle, we are thankful for the feedback. We commit to do it better as we move forward together and beyond”, Dr. De Paz uttered.
Furthermore, Dr. Lydia M. Morante, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, expressed her thoughts on accreditation, saying that it ensures consistency of the university’s operations and quality education to produce intellectuals with moral values and adequate skills.
Dr. Benedicto T. Militante, Vice-President for Administration and Finance, corroborated the ideas mentioned as he believed that program evaluation is not only a routinary process but should gear towards the attainment of the university’s vision and mission.
“We can identify the strength and devise strategies to enhance further our program offerings,” he said as he delivered the Closing Remarks.
