News Office of Research and Development spearheads In-House Review

The Office of Research and Development, in partnership with the Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus and the College of Architecture and Allied Discipline, spearheaded an In-House Review for on-going, completed, and published researches, October 10-11, 2022 at 8:00 am – 5:00 pm via zoom.

The said review aims to disseminate the findings of the studies conducted, help the researchers explore a different angle of the studies for further research, and facilitate the refinement of the on-going studies conducted.

The Education, Humanities, and the Arts strand had fifteen (15) presenters while the Science, Technology, Engineering, Agri-Fisheries, and Mathematics strand and the Environmental Science, Health and Community Development got eighteen (18). Thus, the panel of evaluators scrutinized a total of thirty-three (33) papers.

Meanwhile, the Director for Research and Development, Dr. Pearl Aphrodite Carnice mentioned the criteria for judging the papers as follows: Originality of the research – 25%; Significance of the findings/ new knowledge – 20%; Methodology (adequacy and appropriateness)- 30%; Written Report – 15% and Oral Presentation – 10%.

She further mentioned that the winners of the said undertaking will be announced on October 28, 2022 during the National DABEST Research Congress at Eastern Visayas State University. They will receive a cash prize, as follows: First place: Php 7,000; Second place- Php 5,000 and Third Place- Php 3,000

Experts from the different agencies and SUCs served as panel of evaluators,to wit: Dr. Ludito V. Ramirez, Dr. Joel Rey U. Acob, Dr. Ronald L. Orale, Dr. Ramil T. Uy, and Dr, Ma.Victoria D. Naboya.

Also present in the event is the Dean of the College of Architecture and Allied Discipline, Architect Deanna Bañez, who delivered the rationale of the activity. While, Prof. Kristine Lovele E. Navarette served as the moderator.

Dr. Analyn C. Españo, the Vice-President for Research, Development, and Extension Services, emphasized in her talk that research is the hallmark and backbone of the university. Thus, it is the duty of the faculty members to be involved in research endeavors.
