The Regional SCUAA Meet 2026 officially commenced on April 20, 2026, with a colorful and spirited ceremony at the Leyte Sports Development Center. The event drew together thousands of student-athletes, coaches, university officials, and sports enthusiasts from across Eastern Visayas for the region’s premier collegiate sporting event.

The athletic meet began with a solemn thanksgiving mass at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Niño on the morning, which set a reflective and unified tone for the highly anticipated competition. This spiritual start emphasizes the shared values of the participating institutions before the physical contests began.

In the afternoon, the city streets came alive during a grand parade of delegates. Representatives from 11 state universities and colleges proudly marched toward the venue, waving their vibrant banners and echoing their school cheers in a powerful display of institutional pride and regional camaraderie.

The formal opening program took place at the Leyte Sports Development Complex, where the energy of the massive crowd reached its peak. The atmosphere was further electrified by the highly anticipated ‘Pakulo’ performances, as each team delivered creative and high-octane presentations to showcase their unique school spirit.

A total of eleven SUC delegations filled the grounds with infectious enthusiasm, their cheers echoing throughout the complex as they prepared to represent their respective campuses. Each contingent displayed a blend of strength, endurance, and determination, signaling their readiness to face off against the region’s top-tier athletes in various sporting disciplines.

More than just a series of competitions, the SCUAA Region 8 Games 2026 serves as a vital platform for building lifelong friendships, promoting the ideals of sportsmanship, and celebrating the shared identity of the Eastern Visayas community.
