The Electronics Engineering (ECE) Department, together with Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. – Eastern Visayas Chapter (IECEP-EVC), extends their technical expertise for the Solar Charging Station project of the Rotary Club of Kankabato. The Solar Charging Station was installed in Brgy. Tigbao, Libagon, Southern Leyte last February 15, 2022.
Libagon, Southern Leyte is one of the towns severely hit by the typhoon Odette last December 2021. To date, around 30% of the province of Southern Leyte are already partially-energized including the municipality of Libagon. However, Brgy. Tigbao is one of the barangays still experiencing total power shutdown. The Solar Charging Station will allow the residents to charge their electronic gadgets such as mobile phones and flashlight while there is still no electricity in the barangay.
