To honor the artistic creations of EVSUnistas over the years, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) launched an art exposition dubbed ‘Vintage Vantage: A Memorabilia and Art Exhibit,’ in line with the festivities of the 117th Founding Anniversary Celebration at the Administration Building Lobby, February 20.
College of Technology (COT) – Clothing and Fashion Design (CFD) faculty Prof. Ma. Stefanie I. Caintic, also known as Tipay Caintic, spearheaded the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside faculty organizers of the exhibit, Prof. Porferio Gacgacao, and Prof. Jerry Mores.
In a message given by Prof. Caintic, she unveiled the true meaning behind the event and how it became a platform for EVSUnistas in showcasing their talent and skills that created the artworks displayed in the exhibit.
“Vintage Vantage is all about looking to the past about EVSU’s history, and then looking out to the future with visions and ideas from our students. This is an opportunity for the other students within the university, the faculty and staff to see what we are doing, and also to appreciate each other’s work,” Prof. Caintic said.
She also expressed pride as several artworks showcased in the exhibit had already gained national recognition.
Moreover, the art exhibit featured three sections: Brushstrokes of Legacy showcasing charcoal paintings of former EVSU presidents, Futurescape Reflections displaying various paintings by students, and Sustainable Couture highlighting nationally-recognized fashion collections.
Meanwhile, Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) sophomore Jenny Rose Bolhano emphasized the significance of newcomers like herself witnessing the exhibit.
“𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦 𝘱𝘰, 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘺𝘢 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘪 𝘯𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘨𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘪 𝘩𝘢 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘱𝘰 𝘨𝘪𝘩𝘢𝘱 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘯𝘢 𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘪𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴,” she said.
Bolhano also added that this will serve as a motivation for students with hidden talents to unleash their creativity and actively participate in upcoming art exhibits.
The exhibition will be open until February 23, concluding on the final day of the 117th Founding Anniversary Celebration festivities.
