Just earlier, the Typhoon Odette Task Force of the university went to Sabang Daguitan Surf Camp, Dulag Leyte, a popular local tourist destination, to extend assistance through distribution of relief goods to the NASAKESECO (Nagkaurusa nga Sabangnon Katilingban Service Cooperative).
Undaunted by possible mishap along the way, EVSU community acted with alacrity in giving resources to the victims of typhoon. Prof. Faustino Aure, the Director of Extension Services, supervised the activity in partnership with his PM 565.7/RD 565.5 (Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives) class.
The said tourist destination has been severely damaged due to the “Odette” onslaught that greatly devastated major parts of Visayan region, causing them to close the operation until its renovation.
In addition to the relief goods distribution, the team also inspected and assessed the extent of damage in the location as input to possible future extension projects.
Meanwhile, EVSU workforce led by our university president, President Dennis de Paz, went to Southern Leyte for the same humbling experience of extending help to the ST Odette survivors.
Indeed, EVSU becomes the beacon of hope and citadel of grace which demonstrates gestures of appreciation to the kababayans who are thriving amid the dark chapter of their lives.
Likewise, EVSU happily reciprocates the kindness it received when aid was needed most, especially during the typhoon Yolanda occurrence.
