The Department of Social Welfare and Development and Tingog Party List distributed educational financial assistance to 641 student-recipients of Eastern Visayas State University on October 5, 2022 , 9:00 o’clock in the morning at Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium.
The activity dubbed as “Serbisyong Tingog” touched the lives of the grantees for the aid will help them procure uniform, and other school materials.
“The process is tedious. My patience of waiting has been put to test. Now, finally, I was able to receive the educational financial assistance from Department of Social Welfare and Development and with additional amount from Tingog Party List. I am indeed blessed because I will be able to buy my uniform,” said Nicole Engracial, a BSED 2-Major in Science student.
These words of gratitude signified how the Tingog Party List and DSWD moved the lives of EVSUnistas.
Honorable Jude A. Acidre, Deputy Majority Leader and Representative of Tingog Party List, House of Representative, 19th Congress recalled how his scholarship helped him finish his studies. “Life back then was tough. I never recalled to take the exam on time because I was always late in paying my tuition. Thus, I know the struggles of students,” said Cong. Acidre.
Meanwhile, the Regional Director of DSWD, Grace Q. Subong emphasized in her speech that collaborating and building strong partnerships among agencies and legislative branch makes things possible.
The Tingog Party List augmented the workforce of DSWD to facilitate in assessing all the requirements submitted by the students before the payout.
Dir. Subong appreciated the university, through EVSU-Tanauan Campus, for its strong partnership with DSWD in bringing education to students in conflict with the law with the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY).
Further, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, the University President, expressed his deepest appreciation to Tingog Party List Representatives, Hon. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, Hon. Jude A. Acidre and the House Speaker of the 19th Congress and Leyte 1st District Representative, Hon. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez for their help to the university particularly in the allocated budget of Cong. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez for the university to become a Smart University.
“With the said project, we will have a niche in Information Technology,” added Dr. de Paz.
In addition, Cong. Acidre mentioned that there are more than 30,000 student-recipients of the Educational Assistance of DSWD and Tingog Party List all over the region.
He hoped for the students to dream big as he mentioned, “If your dream does not scare you, it means you are not dreaming enough”.
In conclusion, Dr. de Paz emphasized that the conduct of the activity makes us humans and what makes us humans makes us a true public servant.”
His message became true in the lives of EVSUnistas as they mentioned, “I don’t have a uniform yet, thus, the 5,000 pesos is indeed a great help for me. I also need to replace my bag to put on my things. I thank DSWD and Tingog Party List for this opportunity, and God almighty for allowing me to chosen among the rest,” said Mae Ministerio, BS Entrepreneurship student.
“I am so blessed. Finally, I will be able to buy my P.E. and school uniform,” uttered Jennilyn Rancudo, BEED 1-B student in an interview.
The key officials of the university, Tingog Party List nominees, Mr. Alexis Yu and Mr. Jaime Go, Regional Coordinators, among others were present in the said event.
