EVSU Community welcomes freshies in USWAG

The Eastern Visayas State University’s key officials, faculty, students, and the Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) welcomed the university’s first-year students through its Annual University Students Welcome Activity (USWAG), September 26, 2022, at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Eastern Visayas State University Open Field.

The activity advocated the sense of belongingness of EVSUNISTAs and envisioned that incoming freshmen will, in the future, look back on how the university welcomed and embraced them through this memorable and meaningful affair.

Selected hospitality management students, with the guidance of Prof. Izzem Filamor-Santillan, faculty of the College of Technology, led the freshies on the campus tour to acquaint them with the different offices of the university.

Meanwhile, the USWAG walk of students from the College of Engineering, College of Education, College of Architecture and Allied Discipline, College of Arts and Science, College of Technology, and College of Business and Entrepreneurship to the University Open Field created a jubilant atmosphere among the participants and audience.

Furthermore, the SSG President of EVSU -Main Campus, Hon. Orlando V. de Paz welcomed the students with his heartwarming message.

The Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lydia M. Morante, the Deans of the different colleges, and the University President, Dr. Dennis C. De Paz, joined the celebration with their welcome statements.

The booths of the different organizations paved the way for the students to be involved in extra-curricular activities based on their interests and skills.

To add color to the event, presentations of the first-year students from different colleges served as their baptism of fire as newbies to the university.

The university premises were filled with cheers, chants, and yells and climaxed with fun games and cash prizes that made the affair worth remembering and keeping.

The euphoria was heightened with the presence of EVSU Performing Arts Company and the entertainment of a live band.

The occasion ended with dancing and photo opportunities among students, faculty members, and key officials of the university.

Prof. Timoleon Lianza, the Director of SASO, Mr. Rex B. Palompon, the Executive Assistant to the University President and concurrent Head of the Student Publications Office, Prof. Jerry Mores of the University Events Management, the different heads of the Student Affairs and Services Office, the Key Officials of the University, faculty members, among others joined forces to make the activity a huge success.
