CAS Multidisciplinary Research Journal Aradman hosts Regional Research Conference

The Research Journal Aradman of the College of Arts and Sciences, Eastern Visayas State University hosted a regional multidisciplinary research conference with the theme: “Glocalizing Multidisciplinary approaches in the 21st century” on  September 21 at the Graduate School Function Hall.

In line with the celebration of the CAS days, the research conference commenced with the welcome message of Dr Lydia Morante, delivered by the new CAS Dean, Dr. Glenda Tupaz.

Dr. Dennis C de Paz, the University President, valued the efforts of the college for the remarkable breakthrough it reached. “I commend the College of Arts and Sciences for this milestone as we celebrate the 50th Golden years of quality education through creative, scholarly, scientific and art works across various fields and disciplines” said Dr. Paz.

Attended by researchers via hybrid modality, the event highlighted the lectures of the different Plenary Speakers:Dr. Pacencia Po Milan, Prof. Joycie Dorado- Alegre, and Dr. Guiraldo Ferrnandez Jr.

Dr. Milan shared meaningful insights as regards valuable perspectives a researcher ought to embody. “Reach and build your network, get social and communicate your science, find good mentors, and do what you enjoy,” she emphasized.

She further prompted everyone that research is not a job, rather, it is a passion; thus, it can’t be done half-heartedly.

Meanwhile, Prof. Joycie Dorado-Alegre of the University of the Philippines- Visayas imparted in the colloquium an equally germane content on “Our Culture of Resilience: Healing and Recovery in Super Typhoon Yolanda/ Haiyan Post-disaster Ground Zero”.

She brought the audience to amplifying on the Super Typhoon Yolanda narrative, namely– 8 November 2013, The Aftermath, Spaces and Time, Negotiating Rituals, The Catholic and the Indigenous, Tapos han ika-Kwarenta, Tagmo: 1 year, Pagtayuk, Disastersphere, and 8 November 2021. These chronicles centered on the devastation and the glimmer of hope and resilience in the post- Yolanda onslaught.

Enthused by the vibrancy of the presenters in their incessant quest to find antidote against difficulties and challenges in the digital age, Dr. Fernandez emphasized that we live in an age of enormous possibilities. “It is our passion to invest our time and resources to provide scalable solutions to address many problems,” mentioned Dr. Fernandez.

The research presentations of the faculty members from different departments of the college intensified the afternoon’s session.

The themes and topics of the presentation boiled down to Social Sciences, Languages, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Economics.

An open forum in relation to the paper presented by the speakers substantiated the content of the manuscripts.

Elated by the success of the conference, Dr. Sheldon Ives G. Agaton, Editor- in- Chief of Aradman Multidisciplinary Research Journal, exhorted faculty members to acclimatize the culture of research and publication as this becomes the citadel of providing quality education and fostering academic excellence in the university.

The Aradman conference ended with a message from the newly-appointed Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Glenda B. Tupaz, who extended her appreciation to the synergistic effort of the college in making the event an astounding success, setting off the college to achieving trajectory of greater heights through scholastic and professional endeavor.
