In a simple yet momentous ceremony held today at 3 PM, the Eastern Visayas State University-Main Campus (EVSU) received a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) from the Eastern Visayas State University Multipurpose Cooperative (EVSU-MPC). The ceremony, attended by key representatives from both EVSU and EVSU-MPC, marked a significant milestone in the journey towards sustainability.
EVSU was represented by the University President, Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, who expressed his gratitude for the cooperative’s generous contribution to the university’s environmental efforts. On the cooperative’s side, the handover was orchestrated by Prof. Archer Armada, the Chairperson of the EVSU-MPC Board of Directors (BOD), Ms. Joji Escanuela, the manager of EVSU-MPC, Prof. Ligaya Ponce, Prof. Rommel Bautista, BOD Members of EVSU-MPC, and Prof. Antonino Nalzaro, EVSU-MPC BOD Secretary.
The cooperative’s commitment to sustainability was further underscored during the ceremony. EVSU-MPC pledged to donate an additional three (3) units of MRF to EVSU before the end of September, solidifying their dedication to enhancing waste management capabilities on campus.
The turnover ceremony was a highlight of EVSU-MPC’s 40th founding anniversary celebration, which carries the theme “Members first, ALWAYS!” The cooperative has consistently prioritized the well-being of its members and the community, as evident in its sustainable initiatives.
In addition to the MRF donation, the Cooperative also revealed plans to sponsor the construction of a student lounge in front of the EVSU Cafeteria as part of their 2023 Community Development Plan. This initiative is aligned with their vision of creating a conducive and comfortable environment for students.
This collaborative effort between EVSU and EVSU-MPC reflects a shared commitment to environmental conservation and community development. The MRF will empower EVSU to adopt more efficient waste management practices, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.
The EVSU Main Campus community looks forward to the positive impact of these initiatives, celebrating not only their commitment to sustainability but also the cooperative’s 40 years of dedicated service to its members and the community at large. The spirit of collaboration and environmental stewardship shines brightly as the university and cooperative join forces to build a better tomorrow.
