Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) achieved a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry as it officially assumed leadership of the Eastern Visayas Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (EVMEIC).
The formal handover ceremony was held during the Metals and Engineering Industry Forum on June 19, 2026, at the Acacia Hotel in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The event served as the culminating highlight of the International Metals and Engineering Conference (IMEC) 2026, conducted from June 15–19, 2026, in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC).
Representing EVSU at this prestigious national gathering were Dr. Danilo B. Pulma, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension Services; Prof. Bernard Niño Q. Membrebe, Research Director and EVMEIC Focal Person; and Engr. Elijah Buzon, Project Technical Assistant.
The official turnover marks a new chapter for EVMEIC as it strengthens its role as a regional hub for innovation, research, and technology development in the metals and engineering sector. Through EVSU’s stewardship, the center is poised to accelerate the translation of research into practical, industry-driven solutions that enhance productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable growth in Eastern Visayas and beyond.
This milestone underscores EVSU’s continuing commitment to advancing research excellence, fostering innovation, and contributing to national industrial development.
