Strengthening regional outreach and mental health advocacy, EVSU, through the Department of Counseling and Human Services (DCHS) and the Guidance and Counseling Services Office, partnered with the Rotaract Club of Tacloban and Burauen National High School (BNHS) to conduct an outreach seminar titled “Protect through Education: Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention” under the CARE.CONNECT.PROTECT. initiative.
Held at Burauen National High School, the activity brought together BNHS students, faculty members, and administrative staff under the leadership of Principal Dr. Bryan Colilihan to address pressing psychological well-being challenges among school-aged youth.
Dr. Cherie Guy B. Giray, Head of EVSU’s DCHS, alongside Prof. Normae C. Ecija, served as the primary resource speakers. The session equipped participants with practical coping mechanisms and actionable strategies to cultivate safe, responsive environments within the secondary school community.
The project was spearheaded by the Rotaract Club of Tacloban, led by President Samantha Janikka B. Gosyco and Project Head Deliza M. Marbibi, underscoring the vital role of inter-institutional partnerships in extending university expertise to grassroots educational communities.
