Students from EVSU’s Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management attended a Basic Food Safety training for Food Handlers conducted by FoodSHAP last July 21, 2026 at the EVSU Maritime Building.
The program covered 13 core modules essential for proper food handling and preparation. Topics included introductions to food safety, identifying food hazards, preventing foodborne illnesses, managing high-risk foods, and maintaining strict time and temperature controls. Further, the lectures addressed proper personal hygiene, premises and equipment standards, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, food pest management, kitchen safety practices, general food safety training principles, the flow of food, and compliance with Food Safety Law and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards.
FoodSHAP is an organization that advocates for food safety awareness among food handlers and develops Philippine-made qualification programs aimed at raising industry standards. Through this activity, the participating technology students acquired foundational knowledge on regulatory standards and practical methods required to maintain safety and hygiene in professional food service environments.
The university’s partnership with training agencies like FoodSHAP ensures that students receive accredited, industry-aligned instruction, directly bridging classroom learning with professional standards to prepare future graduates for competitive roles in the food and service sectors.
