Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU)–Tanauan Campus has partnered with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Burauen to strengthen the capacity of the Barangay Esperanza Organic Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (BEOFAC) through a community extension program aimed at improving cooperative management, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and enhancing the well-being of farming communities.
The partnership was formalized by EVSU–Tanauan Campus Director Dr. Rose Anna L. Refuerzo and Burauen Municipal Mayor Hon. Fe S. Renomeron, in collaboration with the University’s Office of Extension Services headed by Dr. Jeffrey B. Negros.
Under the OA SERV (Office Administration –Service Excellence, Entrepreneurship, Records, and Value-Driven Governance) extension program, EVSU will provide a series of capacity-building activities designed to enhance the cooperative’s organizational and administrative capabilities. The program will focus on records management, leadership and governance, entrepreneurship, and other practical skills that will enable cooperative members to operate more efficiently and sustainably.
By strengthening the cooperative’s management systems and equipping its members with essential administrative and entrepreneurial competencies, the initiative is expected to improve service delivery within the organization, create greater livelihood opportunities, and contribute to the economic resilience of Barangay Esperanza. The program also reinforces the important role of academic institutions in bringing knowledge and innovation directly to communities.
The initiative was made possible through the efforts of Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Andres Rey L. Cagara in collaboration with the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) Program, led by Program Head Dr. Marilou G. Perez and Prof. Zosilyn M. Malate.
Also present during the partnership formalization were Dr. Reynalyn O. Barbosa, Head of the Business, Entrepreneurship, and Management Department of EVSU–Tanauan Campus, and Ms. Jasmin Babula Sintasa of the LGU Burauen, who expressed their support for the collaborative undertaking.
The partnership reflects EVSU’s continuing commitment to its extension mission of empowering communities through knowledge transfer, strengthening sustainable development, and creating meaningful partnerships that improve the quality of life of the people it serves.
