News EVSU Innovators dominate 2026 RSCENE; Team GreenMinded clinches Championship

The EVSU winning streak continues to blaze! Proving that our students are absolute powerhouses in technology and design, Eastern Visayas State University delivered a commanding performance at the 2026 Regional Smart Communities Exposition and Networking Engagement (RSCENE).

Proudly carrying the banner for the Local Government Unit of Tanauan, the EVSU delegation took over the competition, bringing home top-tier awards across multiple categories and showing the region how smart innovation is really done.

Owning the stage as the CHAMPION in the Idea Reverse Pitching competition is Team GreenMinded. BSIT students Peter Jade Talabucon, Kate Andrea Hechanova, and Paul Ulrich Notorio, under the strategic guidance of Coach Wit Excelsior T. Paña, delivered a masterclass pitch entitled “KaSaka,” taking home the grand prize of ₱80,000.

In the grueling and highly competitive 48-Hour Hackathon, Team Eight Bit—composed of BSIT-4D students Axyll Judd Picardal, Mark Lawrence Lacdao, and Aldrin Rey Taberara—secured the 2nd Runner-Up spot and a ₱20,000 prize. Also mentored by Coach Wit Excelsior T. Paña, the team built an elite prototype focusing on a “Circular Economy on Water Resources,” proving their technical grit under intense pressure.

Adding firepower to the university’s massive haul, BSARCH-4B student Shaine Pearly Glova captured 3rd Runner-Up in the Digital Poster competition. Coached by Jessica G. Nabablit, MArch, Glova earned a ₱5,000 prize for her compelling and visionary visual translation of smart community frameworks.

Congratulations, EVSUnistas and coaches! You didn’t just compete; you set the standard.
