Graduating students of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) conducted their Tree Nurturing and Monitoring activities from May 19 to 21 at Brgy. Paraiso, San Jose, and from May 25 to 28, 2026, at Brgy. 83-A Burayan, San Jose.
The engagement was spearheaded by EVSU’s Pollution Control Office (PCO) as part of the implementation of Republic Act No. 10964, also known as the Graduation Legacy for the Environment Act.
Under the law, graduating students are required to participate in tree planting activities. To further strengthen these green initiatives, EVSU, through its PCO ensures the continued growth and maintenance of the planted trees through the conduct of Tree Nurturing and Monitoring activities. These engagements foster environmental stewardship among students by encouraging long-term responsibility and active participation in sustainability efforts beyond compliance with academic requirements. Through monitoring and maintenance activities, the students contributed to the preservation and growth of the planted trees, supporting local environmental conservation initiatives within the partner communities.
As EVSU continues to upgrade and strengthen its environmental engagements, initiatives such as the Tree Nurturing and Monitoring activity help forward the university’s goal of sustainability, resiliency, and climate action. Beyond fulfilling the provisions of Republic Act No. 10964, these activities align with the university’s vision of becoming the National University for Resiliency and Climate Action.
