Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) showcased innovative and sustainable architectural concepts at its MOA/MOU Signing and Partners’ Appreciation Ceremony 2026 on August 19 at the EVSU Graduate School Function Hall.
The event highlighted the importance of partnerships in advancing student development and campus facilities.
The event was attended by guests from various government agencies, private-sector partners, and members of the EVSU faculty and staff, led by Vice President for Students, Internationalization and External Affairs Dr. Benedicto Militante Jr.
Their participation underscored the university’s continuing commitment to strengthening partnerships that translate collaboration into meaningful opportunities and improvements for the EVSU community.
One of the highlights was the presentation and voting of three finalist entries in the Architectural Design Competition, sponsored by Mr. Johny Chu Go and associates from the Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce Incorporated (FCCCI), with the theme, “Next-Gen Comfort Rooms: Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Sanitation Spaces.”
The competition challenges Architecture students and apprentices to develop innovative comfort room designs that promote universal accessibility, sustainability, resilience, safety, and user comfort.
The three entries presented concepts that demonstrate how an everyday campus facility can be transformed into a more inclusive, climate-responsive, and user-centered space.
The winning design will receive a ₱20,000 cash prize. It will be adopted as the official design for a comfort room facility to be constructed at EVSU, with funding and sponsorship from the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Incorporated.
The competition also awards ₱10,000 for second place, ₱5,000 for third place, and ₱1,000 each for non-winner merit awardees. The said comfort rooms broaden the sense of inclusivity by showcasing units for the LGBTQIA+ Community and the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) group.
Through initiatives such as this, the university fosters creativity and innovation while promoting accessible, resilient, and sustainable campus infrastructure for the benefit of the entire university community.
After the awarding of winners, the signing of partnerships will follow, together with the present representatives from various government and private offices.
