News EVSU Strengthens Academic Workforce Through Institutional Promotion

Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) recognized the professional growth of 18 faculty members through its institutional reclassification program, strengthening its teaching workforce across the Main and Ormoc Campuses.

The reclassification placed one faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor II, 14 at Assistant Professor I, and three at Instructor III. The faculty members come from various academic fields, including guidance and counseling, chemistry, architecture, engineering, economics, accounting, and English language.

The initiative, led by University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz and approved by the EVSU Board of Regents (BOR) through Resolution No. 2025-121 on December 12, 2025, marks a significant step in the University’s efforts to support the professional growth and welfare of its faculty members.

This institutional reclassification is the first of its kind in EVSU’s history and reflects the current administration’s commitment to recognizing the qualifications, experience, accomplishments, and contributions of its faculty members. It provides qualified personnel with opportunities to advance in their academic careers and take on responsibilities appropriate to their ranks and areas of expertise.

The professional growth of the faculty also strengthens EVSU’s core functions in instruction, research, extension, innovation, and community engagement. As members of the academic workforce, faculty members play an important role in providing quality and relevant higher education to students across the University’s campuses.

The program supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth by promoting professional growth and career advancement. It also contributes to SDG 4 – Quality Education, as a qualified and capable faculty workforce is essential to the delivery of quality higher education.

Also included in the personnel actions were two non-teaching appointments at the Main Campus, covering the Medical Unit and Accounting Unit.

The institutional reclassification and promotion program will continue through succeeding batches, allowing more qualified faculty members to be considered for career advancement in accordance with applicable policies and requirements. This continuing initiative underscores EVSU’s commitment to investing in its people and building a stronger and more capable academic workforce.

The newly reclassified faculty members and appointed personnel formally assumed their respective positions following an oath-taking ceremony held on August 10, 2026.
