EVSU’s Kadiwa Trade Fair 2024 to promote products, creativity

Various products and goods were displayed during the ‘Tabo ha EVSU’ Kadiwa Trade Fair 2024 conducted in line with the 117th Founding Anniversary Celebration located in front of the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Main Gate, starting from February 19 to 23.

The 5-day fair, graced by the University President, College Deans, and guests from the Department of Agriculture, faculty members, and students, aims to support micro-enterprise sellers in different municipalities near the university by providing them with opportunities to make profit and market their products.

Local sellers, farmers, exhibitors, and producers from different municipalities participated in the said event to showcase and promote various goods and services including consumables, souvenir items, and other essentials.

In her welcome remarks, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Services Dr. Analyn C. Españo stipulated that the Kadiwa Trade Fair is an avenue to extend help and service to the community and a product of creativity and innovations made by the talented producers and sellers.

Moreover, the vice president stressed that this activity, part of the annual Founding Anniversary Celebration, strives to uphold connection and collaboration between the cooperating agencies.

“The tradition this time is really collaboration. When we talk about collaboration, it also includes cooperation. These are cooperating agencies. The academe plus the agencies will become stronger and will be able to achieve its goals in bringing the best for the community,” Dr. Españo highlighted.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Teresa Agnes, one of the local producers who creates crochet products, expressed her thoughts on the challenges of patronizing local products in the market.

“Ha akon, kay kumbaga talent man inin akon ginbabaligya, makuri gad gihapon magkuan [magbaligya] hin mga lokal nga produkto kay siyempre karuyag nira it mga imported, pero nahahalinan man ngan nakakaganansya pa man kahit papaano,” she said.

(For me, I sell my talent (crocheting), it is hard to sell local products because other consumers want imported products, however I still sell and get profit.]

Furthermore, in a simultaneous event, the Student Organization Fair 2024 transpired where different organizations assembled their organization booth tents and prepared interactive and fun activities such as photo booths, food and drinks booths, and other activities that students can participate in.

The second day of the five-day Founding Anniversary Celebration will continue with a series of events including arts exhibition, basketball games, and communication caravans.
