The External Campuses of Eastern Visayas State University, Tanauan Campus and Dulag Campus, in collaboration with the Graduate School of the university hosted the quarterly Research and Development Proposal Hearing, May 10-12, 2023 via google meet.
The said proposal hearing aimed to increase the research productivity of the university, to serve as a clearing house and provide an avenue for the faculty and staff to present their research proposals for approval and for possible funding, and to get updated on the research trends in the different disciplines.
“Research is the hallmark of any university. It is a common knowledge to everyone that the University is a ground and space for the generation of new knowledge, in order for the community to benefit out from it. It is on this kind of institution that we will spread what had been discovered, what technologies had been developed, and what breakthrough had been made and it always start/begin with research or project proposals,” said Dr. Gabino P.Petilos, Dean of the Graduate School, as he delivered the rationale of the activity.
Meanwhile, Dr.Annabelle B. Pilapil, Campus Director, Tanauan Campus delivered the Welcome Remarks. She mentioned that doing research makes faculty members abreast to the trends of time.
The Head of Research and Development of EVSU-Tanauan Campus, Prof. Justin Kenneth Treceñe, introduced the panel of evaluators for Day 1 -Education, Humanities, and Arts, Dr. Ryan Michael F. Oducado of West Visayas State University and Dr. Michael B. Cahapay of Mindanao State University-General Santos City; Day 2- Education, Humanities, and Arts, and Day 3-Environmental, Science, Health, and Community Development ,Dr. Ferdinand Bulusan of Batanes State College and Dr. Francis Jesmar P. Montalbo of Batangas State University.
Dr. Pearl Aphrodite B. Carnice, Director of Research and Development, elucidated the mechanics and evaluation criteria of the proposal hearing.
Fifty-nine (59) papers were presented in the said proposal hearing categorized into Education, Humanities and the Arts; Science, Technology, Engineering, Agri-Fisheries, Mathematics (STEAM), and Environmental Science, Health, and Community Development.
