Ryan Romero, a Senior Bachelor of Physical Education student bagged this year’s Mr. EVSU 2021 title while Stephanie Gatela, also a Senior Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering student of the university was crowned as Miss EVSU 2021 during the virtual Grand Coronation, held on August 27, via Facebook live.
Their journey to the crown was not an easy one for they have to conquer the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the pressure to balance their academics. However, they were able to surpass these because of the overwhelming support of their family, relatives, and friends.
As a novice in the world of pageantry, Ryan never expected to win. He just wanted to showcase his talent in singing and dancing because of his longing to perform on stage. Being a natural born performer who can sing and dance confidently, it is without doubt that he snatched the Best in Talent award. He believes in the power of dreaming and putting it into action. As he stressed during one of the live interviews, “Do not just settle on what you have right now, instead, you must go forward and beyond”.
An epitome of talent and beauty, Stephanie was one of the netizen’s top choice. She is a believer of living life with a purpose. According to her, “always find your purpose in what you are doing and you will succeed”. With this motivating words, along with her exuding grace and elegance on stage, she took home the Best in Resort Wear, Best in Talent, and Best in Evening Gown awards.
As the new Mr. and Miss EVSU, Ryan and Stephanie are not only beacons of wit and glamour but also of hope in these trying times.
