News Strategic Challenge: How can we transform Eastern Visayas State University Burauen Campus into an Agricultural Research Innovation Center and Extension Technology provider in the Region?

The Office of Planning, Research and Development, and Extension Services conducted Organic Farming System Benchmarking at Tzu Chi Great Love Livelihood and Outreach Works (Glow) Farm on November 15, 2021. The Glow Farm is one of the Learning Sites for Mushroom Production. The activity is anchored to the strategic challenge of the establishment of the Automated Greenhouse Farming System on the EVSU Burauen Campus, leading to a sustainable income-generating project.

The event is highlighted by the presence of Director Pearl Aphrodite Bobon-Carnice, the OIC-Director of the University Research and Development Office. The EVSU Burauen Campus is represented by our vibrant Campus Director, Dr. Eduardo A. Bagas, Head of Planning and concurrent Head of Research and Development, Professor Jessie Richie N. de los Santos, Head of Extension Services, Professor Reshyl L. del Pilar, Head of Gender and Development and technical member of the Intelligent Green Box, Professor Anna Marie Alonzo, Head of Agriculture, Professor Daisy T. Pedere, Head of Income Generating Project, Professor Manuel A. Refuerzo, Jr., Head of Budget Office, Mrs. Melinda A. Tan, Head of Media Affairs, Professor Elpidio Villarosa and our Architectural Associate Charvi Jasmin.

Administrator Randy Militante of Tzu Chi Great Love warmly welcomes the team with refreshments of mushroom products and Hibiscus juice. Mr. Randy emphasized the goal of the Tzu Chi Great Love Livelihood Center is to help residents earn a better living. The process of mushroom tissue culture, mushroom production, product innovations, and product marketing were all heavily featured.

The activity was concluded with a mushroom facility tour to showcase the different technologies for sustainable mushroom production. A Certificate of Recognition has been awarded to Mr. Randy for his invaluable support and commitment to the EVSU Burauen Campus.
