The University Research, Development, and Extension (URDE) Council approved five (5) research proposals submitted during the October 27–29, 2021 Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Hearing. The aforementioned proposal will be internally funded through EVSU’s Research Funds. The URDE Council met on December 23, 2021, chaired by University President Dr. Dennis C. De Paz. The Vice-Presidents, Campus Directors, College Deans, Director of Finance, Director of Administrative Services, and the OIC-Director of Research and Development, Dr. Pearl Aphrodite B. Carnice, who served as the URDE Council Secretary, were all present at the above-mentioned meeting.
The approved proposals were all submitted by members of the College of Engineering’s Information Technology Department. Proponents of the study include the following:
1. Dr. Dindo C. Obediencia for his two researches, “EVSU Alumni Android Application with SMS Notification” and “TRANSTAC: Android-Based Public Transportation Enquiry System”;
2. Prof. Lyra K. Nuevas, who submitted the proposal “Development of a Tsunami Alert Android Mobile Application for Local Disaster Risk Awareness in Abuyog, Leyte”;
3. Prof. Deborah G. Brosas, with her paper “Variety Identification and Maturity Level Detection of Banana Fruit Using Convolutional Neural Networks”; and
4. Prof. Ritchell S. Villafuerte with her research titled “Students Data Encryption System Using 3D CBC-XOR Algorithm”.
This coming January 24-26, 2022, the Office of Research and Development will hold another Research and Development (R&D) Hearing. The final list of proposal presenters will be made available shortly.
