Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) continues to strengthen its global academic presence as an associate professor from the Department of Languages and Literature (DLL) participated in an international conference and faculty mobility program in South Sumatra, Indonesia.
Associate Professor Dr. Ma. Jenny C. Advincula represented EVSU as one of the plenary speakers during the International Conference on Agriculture, Engineering, Social Science, and Education (ICAESSE), hosted by Universitas Palembang (UNPAL) on June 11, 2026. The conference gathered scholars, researchers, and educators from different countries and disciplines under the theme, “Interdisciplinary Innovations for Sustainable Global Development.”
During the event, Dr. Advincula delivered her plenary lecture, “Ecological Imagination: Seeing the Earth as a Partner in Interdisciplinary Sustainable Development,” highlighting the role of interdisciplinary perspectives in addressing sustainability challenges and promoting environmental stewardship.
Her participation forms part of a five-day international faculty mobility engagement between EVSU and UNPAL aimed at enhancing academic cooperation, promoting cross-cultural exchange, and strengthening institutional partnerships. Through the program, Dr. Advincula is conducting a series of lectures and academic engagements with students and faculty members, sharing her expertise in language, literature, and interdisciplinary education.
In addition to her conference presentation, Dr. Advincula is serving as a guest lecturer in the English Education Study Program of UNPAL during the current semester. As part of her mobility activities, she is facilitating face-to-face sessions for students enrolled in the Introduction to Literature course and engaging with faculty members and administrators to discuss potential collaborative initiatives and future internationalization efforts.
The academic visit is expected to further deepen the partnership between EVSU and UNPAL, paving the way for future faculty and student exchange programs, collaborative research projects, and other academic endeavors that will benefit both institutions.
This international engagement reflects the Department of Languages and Literature’s continued commitment to supporting EVSU’s strategic internationalization agenda. It also highlights the university’s dedication to expanding global academic networks, promoting scholarly collaboration, and providing opportunities for meaningful knowledge exchange beyond national borders.
