Ormoc Campus, SLS seize Mr. and Ms. EVSU 2022 Crown

The dashing debonair of Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc Campus, Charles Clint Saavedra, and the stunning, Ms. Fiona Asthantei R. Ver of the Secondary Laboratory School, Eastern Visayas State University-Main Campus, bagged the Mr. and Ms. EVSU 2022 crown respectively, August 24, 2022, at 7:00 o’clock in the evening at Miguel Romualdez Memorial Auditorium.

As the youngest among the candidates, Ms. Ver said, “I didn’t expect to be part of the finalists because I am the youngest. I look up to my fellow candidates for their gorgeous looks and my “Ates” in this competition. It’s a surprise for me to be declared the winner”.

Ms. Ver’s eloquence and stunning beauty made her stand out among the candidates, and she got special and minor awards such as Ms. Leanah’s Beauty Clinic, Ms. Kusog Sinirangan Philippine Eagles, and Best in Evening Gown.

Meanwhile, Mr. Saavedra’s oozing confidence and stage presence secured him to garner the following awards: Mr. Zynergia, Mr. Chew Love, Mr. Pepsi, and Best in Production Number.

When Mr. Saavedra was asked in the final round of the Question and Answer portion, if he would be given a chance to travel back in time, what advice would he give to his younger self, He uttered, “I will tell myself never to be afraid of trying and never to let the crowd control you.”

The crowned Mr. and Ms. EVSU 2022 received a sash, trophy, and a cash prize sponsored by Hon. Maricor Remandaban and Goldilocks. While the cash prize for the First Runner-Up, Mr. Vincent Galia (CAAD) and Ms. Gabrielle Glenn Caidic of College and Business and Entrepreneurship, was sponsored by Chew Love of Coke Young Go; the second runner-up, Mr. Trix Patrick Morante (COE) and Ms. Jelah Mae B. Modesto (Tanauan Campus) received a cash prize from Sangyaw Foundation of Mr. Donald Jake Superable.

Meanwhile, the 3rd Runner-Up were Mr. Myll Angelo Tijano of College of Business and Entrepreneurship, and Ms. Desiree M. Solejon of EVSU Ormoc Campus, and the 4th Runner-Up were Mr. Dan Jiv Tiozon of College of Technology and Ms. Grasel Cabello of College of Technology received sash and trophy.

The Organizing Team of the Search for Mr. and Ms. EVSU 2022 set the following Criteria and Standard for Judging: quality of personal introduction; stage presence, charm, poise, and grace; Unique and visual impact of costume design; ability to follow choreography; proportional body shape contour; and have not used any visible body enhancement procedure.

The said standards were distributed into: physical attributes – 30%, intellect and wit: 40%, and poise and personality- 30%.

In addition, the minor awards category were: Best in Gatsby Production Number/ Attire; Best in Gatsby Swimwear/ Attire; Best in Gatsby Formal and Evening Long Gown, and Best in Talent.

Dr. Dennis C. de Paz, together with the key officials of the university and the organizing team, was happy with the turnout of the activity. It was indeed the avenue for the celebration of the beauty that comes from within. It is the most captivating sense of every human being, the most powerful value that shines even in the most challenging situations in life, as he said in his speech.

The crowned Mr. and Ms. EVSU 2022 are set to represent the university in the Search for Mr. and Ms. SCUAA 2022.
