All school principals of Tanauan I District and the Eastern Visayas State University Vice President for Administration and FinanceDr. Benedicto T. Militante, Jr, signed the Memorandum of Agreement.

The HELP Project, which was initially established for Cogon Elementary School in Tanauan, Leyte, sought to empower teachers with the skills and resources needed to teach in the digital age. Mr. Kay Bathala H. Santos, Ms. Jayo Cassy S. Hughes, Ms. Ma. Louise M. Roperez, and Mr. Ericson D. Acebedo are the project’s proponents, with the support of Prof. Sarah G. Cajipo, former department head of the now-defunct Department of General Education.

The HELP Project’s solution to the pandemic’s issues emphasizes the significance of creativity and adaptability in education. It emphasizes teachers’ vital role in ensuring that learning continues even in the most difficult circumstances.

The HELP project began in April 2022. The team has been visiting Cogon Elementary School on a regular basis to deliver workshops on a variety of topics, including MS Office Tips and Tricks, High Impact Presentations Using PowerPoint, and Using Google Apps for Better Teaching-Learning Experiences.

The activities were chosen in accordance to the findings of a needs assessment done at Cogon Elementary School in 2022. The project has enabled professors to provide high-quality instruction even when face-to-face lessons are not available.

The project concluded on March 31, 2023, with a session titled Computer Forensics Basics for Teachers held in the Computer Laboratory of the College of Arts and Sciences, EVSU Main Campus.

Meanwhile, the Gender and Development (GAD) office held a Gender Sensitivity Training for Extension Services Recipients on March 31, 2023, at the EVSU Main Campus.

The event is in line with the university’s advocacy for gender equality and sensitivity. The GAD office supports gender-responsive education and practices among extension service recipients. The seminar covered a variety of subjects, including the fundamentals of gender and development, gender roles and stereotypes, and addressing gender issues in extension services. Participants comprised HELP Project team members, instructors, and extension service beneficiaries from Tanauan I District and Cogon Elementary School.

The Gender Sensitivity Seminar is part of EVSU’s attempts to create a gender-sensitive and inclusive community that promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment. It represents the institution’s commitment to supporting gender-responsive education and practices, as well as creating a safe and inclusive environment for all university community members.
